CURRENT INITIATIVES
I am designing a series of small conferences on re-imagining education in the age of AI at the Harvard School of Education, the University of Tokyo, and the American Academy in Rome. I completed a six week residency in the Spring of 2025 at the American Academy in Rome where I chaired a conference on human intelligence - past, present and future. It involved luminaries from the world of Renaissance history (Anthony Grafton, Stephen Greenblatt) as well as an electic assortment of thought leaders from design (Tim Brown), policy (Geoff Mulgan) and AI strategy (Anthea Roberts).
My new course at Yale - Finding Yourself in the Future of Creativity - completed its first iteration this Spring with 25 exceptional students drawn from all parts of the University, including undergraduates as well as graduate students in business, diplomacy, and engineering. The course examined frontier areas such as AI, brain science and new models of collaborative creativity to enable each student to generate a personalized tool box that would help them to forge their life pathway. We also collaborated with Apple, which provided us with Vision Pro headsets for my students to use in projects that explored metacognition and personal biography.
I enjoy a continuing involvement at ThayerMahan (thayermahan.com) as co- founder and chairman of the advisory committee.
